Does anyone here know anything about or worked with TEM tomography?

I might get to use one in the future so I figure it might be fun to connect with people for trouble-shooting, etc.

Plants!!!! ;)

We're studying plant physiology, more specifically, looking at the multivesicular bodies that are created from peroxisomes/endosomes when the plant leaf is infected with Tomato Bushy Stunt Virus. The plants that I will be working on are Nicotiana benthamiana and N. tabacum. The U of Guelph just recieved a TEM with Tomography abilities last year or so, so it's very new. I'm starting a Masters in the fall so I'll know more about it then. :D

wow, I just checked out some of those yeast images. WOW! They did to TEM what they did with confocal microscopy. I'm impressed. That's the first 3D TEM imaging I've ever seen. :D

I'm not sure about the status of the technology, but I do know that we are getting/already have it installed. We just finished building a new "Science Complex" which is getting new machinery and equipement - including a new TEM facility which is sorta already up and running (I think).

However, the TEM technician has yet to be trained with the TEM tomography software - so hopefully when the people come to train him, I might be able to sit in and learn. Hopefully. :D
